A SURPRISE!
I was busy vending away at Art Unraveled and out of the blue my editor appears.
In her hands a sheet of white paper....
Printed on the paper...
The cover to my new book (due out Feb or March-ish).
In my mind I had tried to envision what Geoff at F/W would come up with, and month after month I kept thinking that it might be hard to top the cover of Secrets of Rusty Things...which I loved.
Now the day had arrived...
I was....
Astounded.
Better than I could have imagined.
I LOVED IT.

ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful. But the best part was standing next to you watching your reaction when she gave it to you. It was great to see your excitement and it was obvious you were trying to contain it somewhat but you resembled a little boy on Christmas morning finding that coveted gift under the tree after all! :) Great seeing you again this year at AU!

ReplyDeleteReally happy for you, Michael!!! Can't wait to get the book, and go away (far, far away) from interruptions, to soak it all up. I'll miss being with you and past 'alumni' in Oaxaca, this year, but family (and other matters) are calling. I continue to make shrines from found objects (in search of ???), and teach in the Seattle area. Your work continues to inspire, and I try to pass this along to my students.

Wow Michael!!! The cover is so amazing!!! Love it!!! I agree it would have been quite something to top the Rusty Things cover as that is one of my favorite books. I was in contact with Tonia while she editing this and considering how much she likes it along with the fantastic cover I will definitely pounce on this puppy as soon as it's available!!
