What can a typewriter yeild?

As promised...I said I would show what became of that old Corona typewriter. Looks a bit different eh?

I've been on sort of a vampire theme lately. Perhaps because of my recent music acquisitions. As many of you know, I have some residual Goth-ish tendencies, and lately I have been listening to the Kronus Quartet playing Phillip Glass's new soundtrack to the Bela Lugosi Dracula.

Along the same theme I also purchased some nice little treats from Jill Tracy (a nice cabaret style goth), and she is great solo but she and the Malcontent Orchestra put together a soundtrack for the vampire films to end all vampire films...or to begin all vampire films...Nosferatu.

In any event the music seemed to influence the theme and the Rudyard Kipling book of poems "the Vampire" laying about, didn't hurt either.

So I entitle this new typewriter inspired piece: Blood Type.... get it? Okay bad pun.

Sweet dreams....

  1. OH MY! Michael, this is magnificent! I was wondering what you were going to create with your dissected typewriter.
The title of the piece isn't a bad pun at all, I love it, it's clever.

  3. Mmmm, Gothically gorgeous Mr deMeng! You know my fondness for vampires of all sorts from Barnabas to soon-to-be vamp, Johnny Depp. I will never view a typewriter without thinking 'Nosferatu would love that'. Thanks so much for the preview.

  11. The "sun rays" you created are fantastic and such a symbolic disconnect (of sorts) with your theme. I mean this all in a good way of course :-) And you are quite the punny guy as I'm sure you've been told before....excellent piece!

  14. Excellent! Your pieces must be pretty heavy, considering all the metal. Are they? I'm also impressed with your travel/workshop schedule. Any advice for someone contemplating offering workshops?

  15. I've always been impressed with everything you've ever done but I really truly love this piece. Must be the typewriter lover in me.

I really love your puny title for it and think it fits wonderfully for this piece.

    Looking forward to lots more!
